Chicken Tikka Masala

A Scottish favourite, inspired by the flavours of India.

Tender marinated chicken cooked in a creamy, spiced sauce.


Using our new tikka curry paste, making it super simple to create authentic tasting curries at home.


Our new range of curry pastes contain no added sugars, oils or fats, making them perfect for producing healthier, great tasting curry dishes.


You can use any cut of chicken, or any other meat or vegetable - just adjust cooking times accordingly!

Ingredients

  • 1kg chicken breast - diced

  • 100g tikka curry paste

  • 2 x 400g canned chopped tomatoes

  • 4tbsp tomato puree

  • 4 onions - finely sliced

  • 30g butter*

  • 200g natural yoghurt*

  • 100ml double cream (optional)


*low calorie butter or alternative and fat free yoghurt can be used to achieve a lower calorie, lower slimming value dish - if not using the double cream, substitute for more yoghurt to achieve the desired consistency.


Method

  1. In a large bowl, add 25g tikka paste to the diced chicken and mix well, leave this to marinate for a few hours or overnight for best results.

  2. Heat oil in a pan and add the butter, once bubbling, add the onions and cook over a medium heat until softened and browned slightly.

  3. Add the chicken and mix till combined, cook for 5 minutes, once the chicken has browned add the remaining curry paste and cook for a further 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the tomato puree, chopped tomatoes and 200ml water, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

  5. Add in the yoghurt or cream (or both) and stir gently till combined.

  6. Serve hot with rice & naan.
