Another classic Chinese fakeaway dish - and surprisingly easy to make!
Crispy beef strips coated in a spicy, sticky sauce - ideal for pairing with rice or noodles, vegetables or on its own!
The ingredients list seems long for this one - but it is so worth it, and once all of the weighing / measuring is done, the method is a breeze!

Ingredients
400g steak - finely sliced
1 egg - beaten
4tbsp corn flour
1 onion - finely sliced
1/4 tsp salt
1/4tsp MSG
1tsp white pepper
1tsp ground ginger
1tsp chilli flakes
1tbsp minced garlic
2tbsp rice vinegar
3tbsp dark soy sauce
2tbsp tomato puree
6tbsp caster sugar
2tbsp tomato ketchup
2tbsp honey
*these ingredients can be mixed together in advance
Method
Add the sliced steak to a bowl and add the beaten egg, mix well until the steak is fully coated, add the cornflour, salt, pepper & MSG.
Mix well ensuring the steak is completely coated.
Heat oil in a wok until it begins to smoke, add the beef strips, flatten until one layer and leave to cook & crisp for 2-3 minutes, flip the beef and cook on the other side for a further 2-3 minutes, remove and set aside.
Heat more oil and add the onion and cook for 2 minutes until it begins to soften, add all remaining ingredients and mix well, add a splash of water if the consistency is too thick.
Add the beef and mix well, ensuring it is well coated in the sauce.
Cook for around 1-2 minutes and serve hot.
