This recipe combines our delicious authentic chilli con carne with the humble hot dog.
Using our fiery Mexican triple treat sausage seasoning (which is also gluten free), your choice of bun and topped with a dollop of chilli & cheese sauce, this is a huge hit for any get together.
You can always use shop bought sausages for this if making your own scares you - but you'd be surprised how simple it is to make your own! Check out the video at the bottom of the screen for more information.
Ingredients
800g minced pork
Leftover chilli con carne
350ml milk
25g unsalted butter
25g plain flour
150g grated cheese (cheddar or red leicester)
1tsp cayenne pepper or chilli powder
Hot dog buns
Method
(Part 1 - Video Tutorial at bottom of page)
Add the minced meat & sausage mix to a large bowl and combine, add 100ml cold water and mix thoroughly, the mix should be well binded.
Fill the sausage meat into casings using a sausage stuffer - use a little oil on your hands to make this easier.
Cook as preferred (grill, pan fry, oven bake or air fry)
(part 2)
in a large pan, add the butter and heat slowly until bubbling, add the flour and mix well until a paste is formed, cook this, stirring continuously, for 1 minute.
Gradually add the milk until fully combined and begins to thicken, add the cheese and stir until melted, add the chilli powder and remove from heat.
Heat the leftover chilli as preferred.
Slice the hotdog buns, place the sausage and top with chilli and a drizzle of the cheese sauce.
Enjoy!
