Salt & Chilli Chips

Also known as salt & pepper chips - a current takeaway favourite & so simple to make!


This recipe uses potatoes to make homemade chips, but you can skip this step and use ready made chips, oven chips or even leftovers!

Our salt & chilli seasoning has been perfected over time and is a great way to get that taste we all know and love in the comfort of your own home, used for SO many different dishes.

Ingredients

  • 500g floury potatoes - sliced into chip shapes & soaked for 30 mins in cold water.

  • 15ml vegetable oil or alternative

  • 1 large onion - sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper - sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper - sliced

  • 1 red chilli - finely sliced

  • 20g salt & chilli seasoning

  • 1tbsp minced garlic - rehydrated in water


Method

  1. If making your own chips, drain the water and par boil for 3-4 minutes, drain the excess water and pat dry, coat with oil and cook as preferred - oven, air fryer or fryer!

  2. If using oven chips, cook as per packet instructions.

  3. Heat the oil in a large wok and add the garlic, cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, add the onion, peppers and chilli, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add the salt & chilli seasoning and mix well, add the chips and toss around until coated in the seasoning, allow to heat, transfer to a dish and serve.

 

Alternatively, this can be made in the air fryer, Just add the par boiled potatoes, peppers & onions to the airfryer with seasoning & cook at around 200C for 20 minutes - shaking occasionally.
